How to Create an Academy (Step-by-Step Guide)

1 min read

Overview #

Your Academy is the home for all your courses, students, and instructors. It is the entity that houses everything else. Creating one takes less than 60 minutes.

Step 1: Setup #

Once you have logged into your account:

  1. Click the Create Academy button on the welcome screen (or the dropdown menu if you are adding a second academy).
  2. Academy Name: Enter the official name of your academy (e.g., “Tech City Nigeria”).
  3. Unique Link: Choose your URL slug (e.g., app.varsityscape.com/academy?id=tech-city).
  4. Niche: Select the category that best fits your academy (e.g., Technology, Design, Business).

Step 2: Branding #

Make the platform yours:

  1. Navigate to Academy Settings.
  2. Logo: Upload a high-quality square image (PNG recommended).
  3. Banner: Upload a wide cover image to serve as your academy’s header.
  4. Academy Tagline and Description: Add your tagline and public description.

Step 3: Go Live #

Your Academy is private by default. To allow students to find you:

  1. Go to Settings > Public Site.
  2. Toggle “Publish Academy Site” to ON.
  3. You can now share your Academy Link with your learners and instructors.

Troubleshooting & FAQ #

  • Can I change my Academy Name later?
Yes, you can update your display name in Settings at any time. However, changing your Unique Link (URL) later may break links you have already shared.
  • Can I own more than one Academy?
Yes. You can switch between different academies using the switcher in the top-left corner of your dashboard.
  • Why is my logo background black?
If your logo has a white background, it may clash with Dark Mode. We recommend using a logo with a transparent background (.png) for the best look.
