Setting Up Paid vs. Free Access

Overview #

VarsityScape allows you to run your academy as a free community or a premium business. Because our financial engine runs on USDC (USD Coin), you can accept payments globally without worrying about local currency fluctuations or restrictions.

Configuring Access Models #

1. Navigate to Settings > Access.
2. Select your primary Enrollment Type:
   • Open (Free): Anyone with the link can join. Ideal for corporate training or free communities.
   • Paid Subscription: Members pay a recurring fee (Monthly/Yearly) to access the academy.
   • One-Time Fee: Members pay a single price for lifetime access.

How Payments Work (The Wallet) #

Unlike traditional platforms that ask for a bank account upfront, VarsityScape gives you an integrated USDC Wallet automatically.

• Receiving Funds: When a student pays for a course, the funds settle instantly into your Academy Wallet.
• Currency: All pricing is set and collected in USDC to ensure stability.

Platform Fees & Net Revenue #

We operate on a transparent transaction model. You only pay when you earn.

• Transaction Fee: A flat 1% fee (minimum $1.00 USDC) is deducted from every successful payment.
  • Example: If you sell a course for $100, the fee is $1.00. You receive $99.00 in your wallet.
• Withdrawal Fee: When you are ready to move funds to your local bank or external crypto wallet, a 10% withdrawal fee applies. This covers blockchain gas fees and fiat processing costs.

Charging for Specific Courses #

You can also run a “Hybrid” model: keep the Academy entrance Free, but charge for specific premium courses.

1. Keep Academy Access set to “Open”.
2. Go to the specific Course Settings.
3. Set the price for that course (e.g., $50 USDC).
4. Students can join the lobby for free but must pay to unlock that specific curriculum.

Troubleshooting & FAQ #

• What is the minimum price I can set?
  Because the minimum transaction fee is $1.00 USDC, we recommend pricing your paid products at $10.00 USDC or higher to ensure profitability.

• Do students need crypto to pay me?
  No. Our checkout gateway handles various payment methods. The student pays in their preferred currency, and the system converts and settles it into your wallet as USDC.

• Can I set prices in Naira/Cedis/Rand?
  While the display price may show local currency estimates for students, the actual price is pegged to USDC. This protects your revenue from devaluation.
