Overview #
If you choose the Cohort-Based format, you get to control who gets in, when they start, and how many people can join.
Configuring Your Cohort #
When initializing a course or adding a new batch to an existing course:
- Cohort Name: Give this intake a unique identifier (e.g., “Spring 2026”, “Batch A”, or “Cohort 13”).
- Cohort Size: Enter a number (e.g., 50) to create scarcity or ensure you can manage the grading workload. This also depends on your VarsityScape billing plan.
- Cohort Duration:
- Start Date: The day content unlocks and the community opens.
- End Date: The official conclusion of the program.
Managing Multiple Cohorts #
You can run multiple cohorts for the same course simultaneously (e.g., a “Monday Evening Group” and a “Weekend Group”).
- Go to the Students tab inside the course.
- Use the dropdown menu (top right) to toggle between viewing “Cohort 13” vs “Cohort 14”.
Troubleshooting & FAQ #
- What happens if I reach the Cohort Size limit?
New students will be unable to enroll and will see a “Class Full” message. You can increase the limit in settings at any time. - Do students lose access after the End Date?
No. The “End Date” is for scheduling and certificate issuance purposes. Students generally retain access to materials unless you manually remove them.
