Using the Course Builder: Adding Modules and Lessons

1 min read

Overview #

The VarsityScape Course Builder uses a simple hierarchy: Modules (Folders) contain Lessons (Files). You must create a Module before you can add content.

Step 1: Create a Module #

  1. Open your Course and click the Content tab.
  2. Click Create Module (or “Add a new module to your course”).
  3. Module Name: Enter a title that describes the section (e.g., “Week 1: Fundamentals”).

Step 2: Add Lessons #

Inside your new Module, click the + Add Lesson button. You can choose from:

  • Video: Upload MP4 files directly or embed.
  • Text/Article: Rich text editor for reading materials.
  • Assignment: Create a task that requires a file submission or URL link from the student.
  • Quiz: Multiple-choice assessments to test knowledge.

Step 3: Reordering Content #

You can drag and drop Lessons to rearrange them within a Module, or drag entire Modules to change the weekly flow of the course.

Troubleshooting & FAQ #

  • I created a Module, but students can’t see it.
Ensure the Module is Published. If it is set to “Draft,” it is invisible to learners.
  • What is the file size limit for video uploads?
This depends on your subscription plan. Check your Billing settings for storage limits.
  • Can I drip-feed content?
Yes. In the Module settings, you can set a specific “Unlock Date” relative to the Cohort Start Date.
